LEO Satellite

Earth observation (EO) satellites are positioned in low Earth orbit (LEO), at altitudes between 160 and 2,000 kilometers above the Earth’s surface. These LEO satellites are essential for the voice and fixed broadband services provided by Starlink, as well as the backhaul capabilities for remote mobile sites offered by One Web.

MEO Satellite

Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) satellites are less frequently discussed, yet they are among the most commonly used, particularly for navigational purposes, such as the GPS signals relied upon for everyday travel.

GEO Satellite

Despite the similar acronym structure to MEO and LEO satellites, the “E” in GEO stands for “Equatorial.” Unfortunately, we didn’t get a say in the naming conventions.
